Black Jupiter: Untold Stories

Delve into the early years of local pioneer settlement with LRHS Historian Josh Liller as he shares stories of the captivating history of Limestone Creek. This historic Black neighborhood has roots that extend back to homestead grants awarded to African-American settlers, covering over three square miles of western Jupiter.

Highlights of the History Presentation:

  • Learn about the significant role Black residents played in Jupiter, comprising up to a third of the local population.
  • Explore how Black residents formed the backbone of Jupiter’s small community.
  • Uncover the resilience of the community in the face of segregation, establishing their own farms, businesses, churches, fire department, and school.
