Lighthouse Lectures: Spencer Stereoviews

November 9, 2019 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

Join Loxahatchee River Historical Society historian Josh Liller and explore the historic photography of Melville Spencer, lighthouse keeper and Palm Beach County pioneer.  Mostly sold as stereoviews, these images are possibly the only photos of Palm Beach County pre-1890. You’ll learn about Spencer and his lesser known predecessor, Fred Whitehead, and see many examples of their work. This lecture is being presented as part of the Prof. Robert Farley’s Living History Lecture Series.

Park admission is required ($6/vehicle), however, the lecture is free to the public.

Location: Kimbell Center, Jonathan Dickinson State Park,16450 SE Federal Hwy, Hobe Sound, FL
