About the

Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum

Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum offers climbing tours to the top of the landmark 1860 lighthouse and a waterfront history Museum in a restored WWII Navy building known as “Station J”. Indoor exhibits tell diverse stories of over 5,000 years of human habitation in and around the Jupiter Inlet and Loxahatchee River. Stroll along the brick walkways to discover the restored 1892 Tindall Pioneer Homestead exhibit, the 100-year old Pennock Plantation Bell, native plants and habitats, and the Keeper's Deck and Workshop under an historic ficus tree. Our Museum Gift Shop and Sweet Shop (opening 2012) will satisfy discriminating shoppers and provide great reading material and souvenirs for visitors. The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum offers LENS Programs (Lighthouse Education & Natural Sciences), including: Hike Through History, Lighthouse Chickee Chats, Lectures, and Sunset & Moonrise tours. The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum also accommodates group tours throughout the year, including adult tours, schools, and summer camp groups. Weddings, Proposals and special events are conducted throughout the year and provide unique access and once-in-a-lifetime memories to the public. Through a lease with the US Coast Guard, the Society is solely responsible for the maintenance and public tour operations of the Jupiter Light. The public is invited to help us preserve the historic lighthouse. Proper conservation and repair of this 1860 structure, museum collections management and natural history education is vital. Your membership is a commitment to our treasured landmark & heritage.

About the

Loxahatchee River Historical Society

Established in 1971, and incorporated in 1972, the Loxahatchee River Historical Society has been dedicated to the preservation of our area’s unique & diverse heritage, operating key historical sites and museum with a focus on educating the public. As stewards of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum and a partner in the National Landscape Conservation System, the Loxahatchee River Historical Society (LRHS) preserves and interprets the dynamic heritage, ancient cultural history, and sensitive natural systems of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area and the Loxahatchee River region. Through a long-term lease with the U.S. Coast Guard since 1994, LRHS has served as Lighthouse Operations Manager, responsible for its complete restoration and ongoing maintenance, expanding public tourd from 1 day a year to 7 days a week in winter season. After operating the Loxahatchee River Historical Museum in Burt Reynolds Park for 18 years, the Society moved to the more visible Lighthouse Park site in 2006. Along with the museum, the historical site was expanded to include outdoor exhibits interpreting 5,000 years of human habitation.

The work of the Society, funded through admissions, memberships, donations, partnerships and grants, has built a solid foundation for the next stage of our growth. Our vision to create a world-class eco-heritage destination showcasing our multi-faceted history is being realized and is making a lasting impression on visitors from all over the globe. The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum is a source of civic pride and a rich educational beacon for our state.

Community support is essential. We invite you to join us in this important and exciting endeavor.
